German Grand Prix at Willhill

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Tuesday Jul 29th, 2008

With the Championship being as tight as it has been for years with McLaren’s Hamilton and both the Ferrari drivers being level at the top of the points table at Willhill and BMW’s Kubica being only 2 pts behind this year’s German Grand Prix at Hockenheim promised to be a hair raising event.

With Hamilton and Massa at the front of the grid and at willhill.co.uk after a tightly contested qualifying session the race was pretty much over from the first bend with Hamilton getting a flyer off from the start and just kept pulling further and further away until Glock smashed into the barriers causing a safety cart period where the cars all came back together giving everybody another chance.

You can now place your UK Sportsbetting at www.willhill.co.uk

But when the safety car disappeared back in to the pits Hamilton once again powered away and although he dropped down the order at will hill.co.uk after pitting as soon as the others pitted he soon was back at the throats of Massa who he eventually overtook after the Brazilian after he braked late in to a corner.

Then he hunted down Nelson Piquet who had surprised everyone by lasting the race on a one-stop strategy and finishing 2nd and being on the podium for the 1st time in his career. Massa completed the podium finishing 3rd leaving him 4 points behind Hamilton in the quest for the Drivers Championship.

The Open a review

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Friday Jul 25th, 2008

The British Open over the weekend was one of the best in recent years and for once the absence of Tiger Woods enhanced the drama.

For three rounds it looked as though two time champion, 53-year-old Gregg Norman was on the verge of the most unlikeliest third championship that would have been the greatest story in golf for many a year.

In the end though ‘the Shark’ had just to far to swim for glory and ended up just treading water as a majestic Padraig Harrington retained the claret jug.

The Irishman became the first European to win back to back opens in over one hundred years and showed all his class in shooting a final round 69 to end up on top. Harrington has now all but firmed up his place in the Europe’s Ryder Cup team and with his fellow Europeans also going well the US could find themselves beaten yet again.

England’s Ian Poulter is one of the players who will probably have to rely on a captains pick as he currently sits outside the 12 qualifying places and his own final round 69 on Sunday to finish second will do his chances the world of good.

Also looking for captain’s picks are Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald. Both hugely talented but being kept out of the top 12, which pays testament to Europe’s strength in depth.

Harrington has now moved to number three in the World and on has set his sights on more majors and on this form you wouldn’t back against him.

Ladbrokes.co.uk Olympic Best Bets

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Wednesday Jul 16th, 2008

With the Olympics of Beijing just around the corner at Ladbrokes.co.uk I would like to give some tips on a few team events that should hopefully raise you some extra money.

In the Football or Soccer events there is some really great value being offered by a couple of Bookmakers, Betfred, another site like Ladbokes, are offering a very eye catching 2-1 on Argentina (get on it quick) to win the Gold medal.

When you consider the talent they have at their disposal with the likes of Barcelona’s Messi and the rest of the European based players they will be there or thereabouts.

In the Women’s event of UK sportsbetting last year’s World Cup winners USA have been priced at an unbelievable 4-1 with Betfair (this is too good to miss) especially when you consider that bar the World Cup this is the next biggest tournament the Women play.

You can start placing bets now at ladbrokes sports.co.uk.

Onto the Basketball, with the USA expected to collect one of the easiest Gold’s in the men’s event in the Women’s event things are a lot more even, expect the Russian women to be in the mix for the medal’s maybe the Gold.

And to finish in the Water Polo the Hungarian men’s Water Polo team are aiming for a Third consecutive gold medal at the Olympics so having a flutter on them could well come up trumps.

Coral.co.uk Horseracing Odds What does it all mean?

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Thursday Jul 10th, 2008

A day at the races or at Coral.co.uk, especially in the summer, can be a great day out and can prove quite profitable.

But when you’re placing a bet at www.coral.co.uk it helps to know what the odds mean. Most people seem to think that gambling odds are complicated but in reality, on the whole they are very straightforward.

We’ll start with an easy price of 10/1. The number on the left (in this case ten) represents how much you will get if your horse wins with the number on the right (one) telling you for how much you bet. In this example if you bet £1 you will receive £10 back plus your original £1.

Now just because the number on the right is one doesn’t mean you are limited to that UK sportsbetting amount. You could put anything you like on and if you are successful you will receive times ten of that amount.

So in this case stake £10 and win £100 at coral.co.uk. You will often see odds like 15/2 and these are just as easy to work out. Think of it as a simple sum 15 divided by two. So in reality this price is 7.5/1.

Slightly different are odds-on prices that will look like this: 1/10. This is simply the reverse of our first example – for every £10 you bet you will only win £1 back or for every pound you place you win 10p at www.coral.co.uk.
