The fight did appear to be in doubt until a couple of months ago with all the money etc involved but it is now definitely on and will be staged this weekend in Las Vegas. Many people claim that this might be Hatton’s last fight because after he lost his high profile fight against Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather they feel another high profile defeat would end the mancunian’s career.
Boxing is a sport that has not always been seen as a “sport” and still had a lot of people against it as they see it as brutality as opposed to a sport, but I disagree, there is a referee, there are two corner teams, judges and HUGE gloves, it’s not as if it is bare knuckle fighting.
Most professional fights consist of 12 rounds all with a three minute duration, each round has a one minute break between to allow both fighters to have a rest and also receive advice from their corners.
A fight can be won in a few different ways, the most popular among fighters and fans alike is a TKO which is a Total Knock Out, this is where your opponent is in no fit state to continue the fight. You can also win on points, three judges score both fighters on every round and the fighter with the most points wins. A match can also be declared a draw if both sets of points are level.
