The FA Cup

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Sunday Apr 26th, 2009

After the huge events of last weekend when the FA Cup semi finals were contested, I thought this would be a perfect time to talk about the greatest domestic football trophy in the world The FA Cup.

The FA Cup dates back since well before the World War’s and always has and always will be the pinnacle of everybody’s season. The FA Cup actually begins before the main football season when the qualifying rounds are contested by all the minnow clubs, all battling to make the draw.

The first major point in the tournament in the first round as this is where unheard of clubs can make themselves known as giant killers, but then in the third round when the Premiership teams and the Championship teams join the competition, this is known as the best day of the whole season as every single year without fail there are HUGE shock results in the FA Cup.

Not only in this round though, all the way throughout the tournament, for example last season, Liverpool were beaten at home by league one side Barnsley or in the 1972 cup final, the best team in the world at that point were Leeds United and were beaten by a division 2 Sunderland team, many see this as the biggest shock that the competition has ever seen.

Round by round the teams get halved and then when we reach the semi finals, these have notoriously been played at neutral grounds, now to the dismay of most the semi finals have been held at Wembley, which people think takes the shine off the final which is of course also played on the hallowed turf.

Williamhill – UK Rugby Union

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Sunday Apr 26th, 2009

There are two different types of Rugby in the UK, there is Rugby League and Rugby Union, in this article I shall be focussing on the latter of the two. Rugby Union is competed by two teams and they both have 15 players each and of course the aim of the game is to get more points than the opposition, just like it is in most sports.

Although there are a few different rumours on how the game was founded, the most common is taken from a game of regular football but a player picked the ball up and ran with it, this player was called William Webb-Ellis and because of William’s antics, there is a cup competition every four years named after him.

Although a big national sport, Rugby Union was in deed still known as an amateur sport until as late as 1995 when the IRB (International Rugby Board) declared the game “open” meaning that there was no limit on what payments were made to the players of the game.

In all honesty I am not the biggest of Rugby fans, maybe it’s because I do not fully understand the rules but it is a hugely played and supported sport across the whole world, Australia, South Africa, France, Italy, the UK & Ireland to name but a few.

The most prestigious competition in Rugby League is the adventurously named “Rugby World Cup” where national teams from all over the world battle it out every four years in the hope to be crowned the world champions.

Coral.co.uk – Manchester United Update

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Friday Apr 24th, 2009

Coral.co.uk – After a convincing victory against Fulham in the FA Cup, Manchester United remain on course to bag the record breaking quadruple. With help from two goals from Carlos Tevez, a classic Wayne Rooney strike and a rare goal from Park; Manchester United will be looking forward to their Champions League match against Inter Milan on Wednesday.

To place a bet on coral.co.uk click here!

United take on the current leaders of Serie A at Old Trafford and Mourinho’s men will be looking for that vital away goal that could put a spanner in the works of what would surely be Fergie’s achievement. The first leg of the Champions League knockout match finished 0-0 in Milan and United may look back with some regret that they failed to put away at least one chance.

The next two weeks could make or break United’s season as face Liverpool in the Premiership on 14th March.

If Fergie’s men can keep their focus and put in two solid performances their odds to land the quadruple will surely shorten. With the World Club Championship and the League Cup in the bag, United need to stay on track for another 20 games to do what no other English team has been able to do in the past.

The Red’s fans would be disappointed to miss out on this historic feat but with the League title looking more and more certain with every passing week, they would be happy to boast that their domestic league titles are on a par with their arch rivals, Liverpool.

English Team prepare for Work Cup Glory!

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Thursday Apr 23rd, 2009

Coral.co.uk – As the English this week celebrate the day of their patron saint in St George, I thought it would be fitting to talk about the English national football team in their hunt for World Cup glory in 2010.

To place your bet at coral.co.uk click here!

England have only won the competition once way back in 1966 when it was actually held in the country, not only was the only time we won it but it was the only time that we made the final of the competition.

Every four years when the competition comes round (apart from USA 94 when we failed to qualify), a lot of eyes are on England and a lot of people say that this will be our year, then every time we fall at one of the final hurdles and heartbreak sweeps the nation yet again.

After the dismal display of Steve Mclaren at the helm, the installation of another foreign coach was greeted with excitement and disappointment, many people think a foreign manager should not be allowed the job, but many people which English manager was good enough?

Italian legend Fabio Capello was the choice of the FA in the end and it certainly seems so far that it might have been a good one after playing five qualifying games in the campaign, winning all five games, one of them being the 4-1 demolition of Croatia in their own back yard.

Last time round in the World Cup many deemed this our best chance to win once Brazil, France and Argentina and Spain had all been knocked out but still we failed to make the most of our opportunity, lets hope this time in 12 months when the squad fly out to South Africa that they are set to bring home the FIFA World Cup.

Willhill Review

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Tuesday Apr 21st, 2009

Walking down the English high street just would not be the same if there was not a William Hill shop for you to pop in and either have a bet or even grab a coupon for the following Weekends football because this company has became a part of England’s history if you ask me.

To place your bet on willhill click here!

Since the great man himself first came about offering bets on the race courses of the UK in 1934(when it was illegal to gamble!) William Hill has grown to become one of the biggest and best in all forms of gambling whether it is in the shop or on the Internet.

As you could well imagine William Hills.com specialises in the all the major UK sports with some great early morning Horse Racing odds offered on the majority of the big races of the day which you would do well to find better early morning odds anywhere on the Internet, couple this with a great William Hill.com radio tipping service that actually does help you pick good horses that will give you a good run for your money.

Current promotions at William Hill are also pretty eye catching, to help you choose William Hill today instead of a competitor they are offering some very competitive bonuses all across the board, which include a free tenner on the sports book site, £50 free bonus on the online casino, up to a whopping £250 free on William Hill Poker and many more also making it a gamblers dream.

ladbroke sports book review

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Friday Apr 17th, 2009

Ladbrokes have been one of the leaders of the betting trade for quite a number of decades due to having a professional approach to customers’ needs and being able to be one step ahead of most in the field and be open to change at any given time.

To place your bet on ladbrokes click here!

As you would expect there seems to be an endless list of Sports available to have a flutter on with Ladbrokes and to be fair they do not disappoint with hundreds of different betting options on offer on just about anything from the next horse race that is due to start in the next couple of minutes to a Football tournament or massive sporting event happening next year.

Today is probably the hardest it has ever been to make people choose your website instead of the hundreds of websites that now have jumped on board the industry of betting and with so many of them offering very good deals to join Ladbrokes have a decent promotion where you simply place a bet of £10 or more when you first open your account on anything Football related and Ladbrokes will match your stake with a free bet up to a maximum of £25 which is not the best looking offer but it is better than what many of them are offering today.

Poker lovers are given some great looking bonuses for joining up with Ladbrokes.com/poker and the casino so if you like the sound of free regular chips looks no further than Ladbrokes.com.

Coral.co.uk – Premiership Highlights

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Monday Mar 30th, 2009

www.coral.co.uk – One very important thing came out of this weekend’s games in the Premiership and that is the ribbon should be placed around the trophy and once again posted to Old Trafford because with Liverpool only drawing their home game with Manchester City there now is a 7 point gap at the top of the table and for me that is too much for any of the teams to claw back and the title will once again be around he hands of Sir Alex Ferguson come the end of the season.

CLICK HERE TO BET AT CORAL.CO.UK

Ronaldo scored another wonder goal in Man-Utd’s 2-1 win over Blackburn scoring a beautiful free kick, Liverpool blew what was surely there last chance to catch United after only claiming a draw with Kuyt scoring a late leveller after Arbeloa scored an own goal to give City a surprise lead early in the 2nd half. Aston Villa battled hard in their home game with Chelsea but after Nicolas Anelka gave the visitors the lead the Londoners sat back well to claim a priceless 1-0 win and jumped past Villa into 3rd place.
Arsenal who now finds themselves a full six points behind Villa in 4th and face a battle to qualify for the Champions League were stifled by a very defensive Sunderland at the Emirates and it was no surprise the game finished a boring goalless draw.
The teams at the bottom did not fair that well this week either, With Blackburn losing at Old Trafford and bottom club West Brom losing 2-0 away at Fulham and if it was not for their keeper Scott Carson it would have been much worse, Middlesbrough completed a bad weekend for the bottom 3 only drawing 0-0 with Wigan at the Riverside. coral.co.uk

totesport

Posted by Trix @ 12:00 AM, Tuesday Mar 24th, 2009

Every year when the race diary is released for a season, there are three dates that everybody heads straight for, one of them being the Grand National, secondly is the Derby and finally is the big one, the Cheltenham Festival. Millions of pounds are bet every year during Cheltenham week with the Gold Cup on the final day being the main race in the week. This week is an absolute dream for the bookmakers and this is why you see the ones who don’t advertise as much or as big really come out of the woodwork.
This advert is for Totesport and was taken from the Daily Mail. The main focus on the advert is the fact they have picked three races from the day and listed the odds that they offering on every horse in those three races, to split the advert up they have inserted some fantastic offers. The one that really catches my eye is the offer of a free £50 bet to new phone or internet customers. The other offer is that they will give you 10% off any totejackpot and totesuper7 bets. Considering this is a mono advert I think they have used the ad very well and I think this will attract a lot of interest.
