Coral.co.uk – I have to say I have woken up today with a bad taste in my mouth, after witnessing possibly the worst ever refereeing performance I have ever watched in the 30 odd years I have been following Football and dare I say it I actually think a bit of cheating was behind the reason so many blatant penalty decisions were not given.

Chelsea players themselves have said they are certain UEFA did not want two English Football teams in the final of the Champions league two years running and on the evidence of last night who can blame them? Out of the four decisions that Chelsea are doing their head about only 1 I think I will agree with the referee on but at least two out of the other three for me were not only penalties but definite Red Cards as own both occasions the players that committed the foul and the hand ball were the last man and stopped blatant scoring opportunities which by the letter of the law is a sending off offence.

Even Abidals sending off for Barcelona was wrong as I actually thought Anelka tripped over his own foot when approaching the area and should not have even been a free kick! But this referee proved he did not do anything by halves and quite frankly totally ruined what should have been a great European night of football and should never be allowed to referee a high pressure game again as I am sure the Football in Norway (where he came from) is not even 50% as fast as what he would have encountered last night.

But you just cannot help thinking there was a conspiracy behind last night’s result? And I look forward to watching Manchester United strike revenge for English Football in the final at Rome in 3 weeks.
